the chain.
“so glide away on soapy heels and promise not to promise anymore. and if you come around again, then i will take, then i will take the chain from off the door.”
this is actually a week old. but…
the holidays are over! there’s a certain amount of cheer that comes with those winter holidays, but a different kind of happiness that results from being able to sleep in and stop spending too much money. anthony’s birthday passed! he is now thirty-one. we ended up celebrating his party before christmas, since people would still be out of town when his birthday came around, and it was a great night: jalapeno poppers, champagne, a few types of liquor, rock band… a good time. working the day after was less of a good time, but, it was worth it :) happy birthday again.
the work christmas party was awesome. every year we do secret santa, and it is always entertaining to see who gets what. i received a well-bought $15 starbucks gift card from matt, and i gave colby a snuggie, a beer pong kit, and a starbucks card for when he moves into the dorms @ UNT. anthony and i were both feeling rough from his birthday party the night before so we didn’t drink, but there were holiday drinks and wine too, to go along with the board games and pinata (although no drinking during theĀ pinata… that would be bad news). and at the end of the night, we watched beverly hills ninja. it was lovely, and the now and later candy ornament is still hanging on anthony and i’s christmas tree :) i also still use the reese’s candy lip balm i got out of the pinata, but it makes me want to lick my lips more often. i was lucky enough to have christmas AND christmas eve off, so the whole fammily trekked up to north texas to celebrate christmas in lewisville with my sister. the dinner was full of all of my favorites :) i love christmas dinner so much. any meal that includes baked ham and homemade macaroni and cheese is a win. i think everyone enjoyed their gifts though… i got an ipod, headphones, a bookbag, and a lot of yummy smelling bath stuff :) things i have all used since then.
i’ve been working on my resolution this year so far though. i resolved to be more assertive and to bite my tongue less if there’s something i want to say or do. so far it’s been working pretty well. not everyone is adjusting to the change that well, but luckily, no one i really care about has been affected AND i feel a lot better about myself. anthony and i went for a walk today because it was nice and crisp outside, and we hadn’t just walked around the neighborhood in a while. we went to the park at dusk and sat on the swings, and then we sat in the gravel for a little bit, sifting through the pebbles to find the ones that were interesting or looked like something we should keep. we ended up getting locked out by his roommate for a little bit, but… it was a very simple, easy day. i think i’m getting more and more used to those, and while i know i won’t have quite as many once school starts up again… i could get used to living like that. i think the more simple my life gets, the better, but we shall see :) goodnight internet.
